I normally approach the new year with resolutions, but by March, they’ve gone out the window. We all begin with the best intentions of being better than last year, but we fall short because we are not consistent. So, my resolution this year is to throw unrealistic expectations away. Instead, right now, I’m focusing on simple things I can do to improve myself and my relationships.
Here is my plan:
PRACTICE SELF-CARE
There are always excuses for why we don’t pour into ourselves as much as we should. However, this year, I will be dedicating more time to my self-care. This includes squeezing in a workout at least twice a week, taking daily supplements and making smarter decisions concerning food. These easy things can make a world of difference.
GET BETTER REST
I am the worst when it comes to resting. I normally am a night owl, as this is usually the time that I get the most things done. A regular sleep schedule can help you reach your fullest potential each day. Therefore, making adjustments and getting to bed earlier will be top priority.
BUILD STRONGER RELATIONSHIPS
One thing the pandemic has taught me is how precious time is. I’ve decided to prioritize reaching out to those I love no matter how busy I may be. Giving everyone their flowers now while they are here to enjoy them.
BE GRATEFUL
Instead of focusing on things that I don’t have, I am making an effort to be more appreciative of the things that I have rather than focusing on chasing happiness. Until you’re able to appreciate everything, you won’t appreciate anything.
What intentions are you setting for yourself? Keep them simple for a better you in 2022.
