Flowers are a focal point of any wedding, and they go a long way toward creating the vibe of your big day. If you want a standout celebration, check out some of the floral trends that are in full bloom for 2024:
Wispy florals
This style is inspired by wildflowers and untamed gardens; think loose, airy bouquets and arrangements with flowers like poppies, ranunculus and cosmos. These arrangements typically are not densely packed and use minimal filler flowers or greenery.
Bright, boldly colored blooms
White is a wedding staple, but couples are increasingly opting for colorful flowers in their wedding decor. This trend includes using a variety of colors and bold hues to create a vibrant, eye-catching aesthetic.
High-impact installations
Large-scale floral installations are becoming more popular. These can be used to create a dramatic focal point at the ceremony or reception venue.
Minimal greenery
While greenery always has been a popular choice, there’s a move toward using less of it in 2024 and allowing the flowers to take center stage.
Focus on non-floral elements
While flowers remain a major part of wedding decor, there’s a growing trend of incorporating other elements like pampas grass, dried flowers and feathers.
Grooms’ pocket flower
I love this trend! They hold up so much better than a pin-on boutonniere.
Pro tip: For that special touch, you can add a “something old” element to your bouquet, like a rosary, grandma’s brooch or small family pictures on a frame for remembrance.
BEYOND FLOWERS: OTHER DECOR IDEAS
Not a big flower fan, or just looking to do something different? No worries. Here are some other ideas for guest-table decor at your special event:
Non-floral centerpieces: There are many creative alternatives to flowers. Succulents, topiaries or bonsai trees are all easy to care for and add a touch of greenery. You also could use sculptures, candles or decorative objects that tie into the event theme.
Edible centerpieces: A charcuterie board or a small display of cupcakes or other desserts can be a fun and functional centerpiece, especially for a luncheon or breakfast event.
Themed centerpieces: We designed two events that were circus themed, and we created the look by making the centerpiece out of hula hoops, top hats, peanuts, flowers and popcorn. Don’t hesitate to think outside the box!
CUT VS. SPLURGE
Flowers to cut out:
- Boutonnieres for everyone — they are not needed.
- Corsages for everyone — I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gone back to the wedding and seen them on the floor.
Flowers to to splurge on:
- Your aisle — If you work with the right florist, then a lot of the time, the flowers can be reused elsewhere,
- Your bridal bouquet — When else do you get to carry a giant bouquet of flowers designed especially for you?
