Women are embracing their natural hair color with lived-in balayage. It’s easy to care for, saves time and money and creates a natural look with techniques that are specifically designed to accentuate each woman’s best features. With all these benefits, it’s no wonder balayage has become one of the most popular hair-coloring trends over the past couple years.
Has this trend piqued your interest? Here’s what you need to know:
MAINTENANCE
Balayage creates a longer-lasting color with minimal maintenance. For example, your typical highlight will last around six to 12 weeks before you need a touch up, whereas a balayage allows you to go up to six months before needing a refresh.
So, what other maintenance is recommended for a balayage? Come in every six to eight weeks for a gloss and conditioning treatment to keep the color rich and the hair healthy. This is important for maintaining the hair’s integrity. Healthy hair is happy hair!
HOW IT WORKS
Balayage and highlights are different in many ways, one being application. Traditional highlights typically go all the way to the root for maximum brightness, while balayage is hand painted onto the hair using sweeping motions for a softer, more natural and sun-kissed look.
Because traditional highlights create more defined lines, they tend to grow out in a more noticeable way and require more frequent touchups, but balayage blends more seamlessly with the natural root color, making for a less-noticeable grow out.
