The Super Bowl on Feb. 9 may be the biggest football matchup of the year, but we all know what the day is really about: the commercials, the halftime show and, of course, the food. We can’t wait for our tastebuds to do an endzone dance as we devour spreads of dips, chips, wings, sliders and other tasty snacks.
Whether you’re heading to a friend’s house or hosting a party yourself, you’ll want to whip up something easy and delicious for your fellow hungry fans. Here are some crowd-pleasing recipes to serve during the big game.
Loaded nacho platter
(Serves 6-8)
Ingredients:
- 1 large bag (about 12-14 ounces) tortilla chips
- 2 cups shredded cheese, cheddar or a Mexican blend
- 1 pound seasoned ground beef or shredded chicken
- 1 cup rinsed and drained Black beans:
- 1 cup diced tomatoes
- 1/4 cup thinly sliced jalapeños
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup guacamole
- 1/2 cup salsa
Instructions:
- Layer tortilla chips on a large baking sheet. Sprinkle with cheese, beef and black beans. • Bake at 375 degrees until cheese melts (about eight minutes).
- Top with fresh ingredients like tomatoes, jalapeños, sour cream and guacamole. Serve hot and watch them disappear!
Buffalo chicken dip
(serves 8-10)
Ingredients:
- 2 cups shredded rotisserie chicken:
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup hot sauce like Frank’s RedHot, adjust to taste
- 1/2 cup ranch dressing
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- About 8 celery sticks, cut into dipping lengths
- 1 bag (10-12 ounces) tortilla chips
Instructions:
- Mix chicken, cream cheese, hot sauce, ranch and cheddar in an oven-safe dish.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes or until bubbly.
- Serve with celery sticks and tortilla chips for dipping.
Mini sliders trio
(makes 12 sliders)
Ingredients:
- 12 slider buns
- 1 pound ground beef (makes four sliders)
- 1 pound pulled pork (makes four sliders)
- 1 pound shredded chicken (makes four sliders)
- 1/2 cup barbecue sauce (for pulled pork and chicken)
- 12 pickle slices (1 per slider)
- 4 cheese slices, quartered (for ground beef sliders)
- 1 cup coleslaw (for pulled pork sliders)
Instructions:
- For beef sliders, grill patties and top with cheese and pickles.
- For barbecue pulled pork sliders, add pork and coleslaw to buns.
- For chicken sliders, mix shredded chicken with barbecue sauce and layer with pickles.
- Assemble and serve for a mix-and-match mini sandwich experience!
