Maycee Scardino Eargle had dreamed of her wedding day her whole life, and when she said “I do” on Dec. 2, 2022, the real thing exceeded her every wish.
Riding to the church with her dad in a horse-drawn carriage made the bride feel like royalty. She wore a breathtaking white ballgown fit for a princess. And standing by her side at Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church was the man she’d long hoped for.
“He’s everything I’ve wanted and more,” Maycee gushes about her groom, Joshua Eargle. “I’m very blessed to be loved by him.”
MARRY ME
The pair met seven years ago while attending the University of Mississippi. On the day he proposed, Josh planned for Maycee’s sister to take her for a spa day.
They drove into Centennial Plaza, and to Maycee’s surprise, her future husband awaited her there. At the end of a bridge strewn with pink rose petals and lined with candles were large, illuminated letters that read “Marry Me.”
“He even had my engagement ring in a little, pink box with our initials engraved,” Maycee recalls. “Our parents, grandparents and siblings were all hiding behind one of the buildings on the property. It was perfect!” Josh had even arranged a surprise party to celebrate the occasion with their nearest and dearest.
‘A DREAM COME TRUE’
Maycee acknowledges that her family calls her “extra” for a reason, and her wedding was the grand affair she’d always wanted. More than 400 guests attended the nuptials, and the bride incorporated numerous fun elements that made the big day unique, starting with the carriage ride.
“My uncle even dressed in coattails and a top hat to escort us on the carriage,” Maycee says. “Then, when we arrived at the reception, one of my good friends dressed in an all-pink suit and top hat and served champagne to all the guests. He was a fan favorite!”
She credits her beloved late Granna for her love of all things royal, and to create a regal vibe, the reception featured a pink, British-style telephone booth where guests could leave keepsake voicemails. Maycee comes from a family of dancers, so the newlyweds and their loved ones danced the night away and even threw in some of their own choreographed numbers.
“We ended the night with a firework display before we made our exit,” she says. “It was a dream come true!”
FOCUS ON FAMILY
As a wedding planner for The Wedding Collection, Maycee works with other brides to coordinate their dream days, and Josh is a physical therapist for Mississippi Home Care. Having returned from their Barbados honeymoon, they are settling into married life at home in Pass Christian.
“One thing I love about me and Josh is that we both really value family,” Maycee says. “We both grew up with very loving and close families, so that is something that I know we will continue as we begin our own.”
The couple’s love story is simple, she adds, but continues to grow by the day.
“I love that we’re still learning who we are as a married couple,” Maycee says. “It’s really been the best time with my husband.”
