One in three people is affected by addiction or mental health issues, and a new, free resource is now available to those who are struggling and their loved ones.
Caesars Foundation and Harrah’s Gulf Coast have gifted Mental Health Association of South Mississippi with a user-friendly website: justfive.org/mentalhealthassocsms/. People of all ages can benefit from the site, which contains general education on topics like signs and symptoms and the dangers of opioids. The site is created with the idea that investing just five minutes into the various lessons can help people better understand who is at risk, how to know whether someone has a substance use disorder and much more. Site visitors can return as many times as they like to continue learning.
“We are filled with gratitude about the website,” says Kay Daneault, executive director of the Mental Health Association of South Mississippi. “Harrah’s Biloxi chose our organization to be their partner in this.
“Addictions are affecting too many families in Mississippi, and our hope is that this will help our community learn more about it and share with their co-workers, friends and family.”
