Are you on winter break from school? Do you have a few extra days off from work? Maybe you could use an audiobook for the long drive to Grandma’s house. If so, here’s a list of our favorite leadership and self-improvement books to keep you engaged over the holidays.
1. Get A Grip
Topping our list is “Get A Grip” by Gino Wickman and Mike Paton. You’ll learn how to create processes, solve your businesses’ people problems, understand the importance and power of a clear company vision, learn how to have an effective meeting, and much more. This book literally changed my business and my life. If you can only read one book, read this one.
2. The 4-Hour Workweek
Coming in at No. 2 is “The 4-Hour Workweek” by Tim Ferris. Tim’s best-selling books and No. 1 podcast are popular around the world. He is a founder of the life-hacker movement, a world-champion salsa dancer, martial arts expert, and may be certifiably crazy. If you’re looking for an interesting book to really make you think, check out this book.
3. Turn the Ship Around
For a great read, check out our No. 3 book, “Turn the Ship Around,” by David Marquet. Can you imagine inheriting a failing company with less-than-stellar employees? Your job is to turn the company around…but you can’t fire anyone. That’s what happened to Captain David Marquet when he was given the worst submarine in the U.S. Navy. Not only did he get the team back on course, but in less than two years, his team was the best in the Navy.
4. The Miracle Morning
Do you want to turn over a new leaf and start 2018 with better habits? Our No. 4 book, “The Miracle Morning” by Hal Elrod, will help you start every day on the right foot and begin to create new habits.
5. Extreme Ownership
Learn leadership skills from the Navy Seals in our fifth book, “Extreme Ownership,” by Jocko Willink and Leif Babin. The authors take their real-life leadership lessons from being on the frontlines and translate them into practical lessons for leading in business and life. It’s a great book full of great stories, and is a must-read for coaches, business leaders and team members.
