Lee Brumfield, a good friend of Starr and John “Chappy” Chapman, approached the couple about developing a new restaurant concept for his strip mall in Waveland. After much thought, they merged two of their favorite restaurants together, Whiskey Kitchen and Rum House, to create Rum Kitchen, which launched in April of 2016. The restaurant offers a unique and eclectic take on coastal Creole cuisine, focusing on the freshest ingredients from seafood and burgers to steaks and craft cocktails.
It’s casual and friendly, and the food is delicious,” says partner and manager Starr Chapman. “We take pride in making you feel at home, and you don’t have to do the dishes.”
MOST POPULAR DISH: Crab on crab on crab — lump crabmeat ladled on top of a fried soft-shell crab sitting upon a crab cake drizzled with meuniere sauce
DELICIOUS NEW ADDITIONS: “We are always trying to be innovative with our plating and flavors,” Chapman says. “We roll out new feature items weekly.”
