Spilling her secret: Shaina Barnett

Shaina Barnett is the owner and microblading artist at Southern Brow Boutique LLC. As the owner of a rural salon in Gulfport, she helps women of all ages amplify their natural beauty and confidence by enhancing their eyebrows with microblading. Here are some of the favorite products she swears by.

MICELLAR WATER THAT’S WORTH THE INVESTMENT

Not all micellar waters are created equal. Trust me. I have tried off brands, trying to save a few dollars, and ended up throwing money down the drain. Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water is worth the investment. Tip: It’s great for removing press-on eyelash glue; just add a little to a Q-tip and rub on your lash line.

‘MY GO-TO MAKEUP REMOVER’

Neutrogena Makeup Removing Wipes are my go-to makeup remover, especially if I’m traveling and don’t want to worry about spills or airline regulations for liquids. I prefer the unscented wipes.

SUN PROTECTION FOR FANS OF TANS

I know two types of people: sunscreen fanatics or “I’m trying to get a tan.” Why not both? Australian Gold Instant Bronzer is light and airy, has a very pleasant smell and does not leave you feeling oily. It contains a touch of bronzer and has a low SPF to provide protection while you’re working on your tan.

MOISTURIZER THAN ENHANCES YOUR SKIN’S GLOW

NatureWell Super Beauty Cream is my current daily moisturizer, and it’s worth noting that the pump is very convenient. This cream enhances skin’s glow, firms skin, provides intense moisture and leaves skin smooth. It goes on very light, and the fragrance is very subtle. The only thing it’s lacking is SPF.

‘GREAT FOR COVERING UP GRAYS’

I love Batiste Dark Hair Colored Dry Shampoo! It is great for covering up grays or thin spots on the scalp while also removing oils in the hair. It has an awesome fragrance, too.

Purple shampoo is for brunettes, too.

Everyone knows they make purple shampoo for blondes, but did you know they have one for brunettes? I recently discovered this and have been using John Frieda Brilliant Brunette Shampoo and John Frieda Brilliant Brunette Conditioner to keep my color from fading.

BEST BRAND FOR HOME MANICURES

I always seem to smudge my nails when I try to do them at home. Insta-dri Nail Polish takes two coats and dries quickly, preventing smudges. My daughter loves painting her nails, and this is the only brand that lasts on her tiny nails.

ANOTHER GREAT MOISTURIZER OPTION

I noticed a huge improvement in my skin when I started using No7 Lift & Luminate Daycream/Sunscreen. The best part is the 30 SPF that protects your skin all day.
