Spring wardrobe refresh: Trends in bloom

Say hello to stripes, ruffles and florals — this season’s must-have styles

I’m so thankful to be heading into Spring! With all the weather changes the Coast has seen so far this year (snow…really?!), it’s finally time for the world to come back to life. Spring brings so much positive energy! It also gives you the chance to brighten up your wardrobe, which is a guaranteed dopamine rush.

Here are some of my favorite trends that will be in bloom this season:

STRIPES AND COLOR

Two things to add to your closet this spring: stripes and vibrant colors of any kind.

Anthropologie is one of my favorite places to shop for trendy pieces, as this brand is always spot on with the vibe of each season.

Mare Mare short-sleeve polo mini dress

For example, the Mare Mare short-sleeve polo mini dress ($158, www.anthropologie.com) reminds me so much of a popular dress from Loewe — a luxury fashion brand. It’s so sweet and perfect for springtime weather on the Coast. The color is fun and vivid, and I also love that this isn’t just a basic dress; the stripes give it character.

H&M’s tie-belt shirt dress

I’m also a big fan of H&M’s tie-belt shirt dress ($54.99, www2.hm.com). The subtle stripes and pretty, pale pink color make it a spring essential.

RUFFLES

Ruffles will be huge this season, especially with the rise of free-flowing clothing that allows for effortless styling. This time of year, women tend to gravitate toward items that are easy to wear, but also feminine.

Cos mini ruffle dress

And these ruffles aren’t your typical, 80s-style ruffles. They are chic and create a beautiful silhouette. One ruffled piece I love is the Cos mini dress ($150, www.cos.com); although it’s black, it’s still spring appropriate. I love the sheerness of the fabric and how the details of the ruffles elongate the body.

Never Fully Dressed Elinor blouse

Another beautiful spring piece is the Never Fully Dressed Elinor blouse (www.neverfullydressed.com, $145) You can make this super Boho-esque by adding ripped jeans, or you can dress it up for dinner or work.

FLORALS

Of course, flowers and floral embroidery will always be on any list of spring trends, but brands are incorporating them in unique, unexpected ways.

Levis 94 baggy cargo pants

For instance, so many stores will have fun, embroidered jeans and pants like the 94 baggy cargo pants from Levis ($39.98, www.levi.com). The color palate is neutral, so you can pair them with anything.

H&M plissé dress

I also love the H&M plissé dress (www2.hm.com, $34.99). The sweet floral motif is perfectly on trend.
