The philosophy of Starfish Café’ is to treat people with respect dignity and honesty – all while serving them delicious, nourishing and locally sourced fare.
The Bay St. Louis restaurant, which Di and Zac Fillhart founded in 2013, focuses on a clean, farm-to-table menu. Each plate or bowl is handcrafted fresh when ordered, according to the restaurant’s website.
“Dear to our hearts is the ability to provide a dining experience for those whose dietary needs may be outside a more traditional approach to menus,” the website states. “From our homemade, gluten-free items to our eight-year-old sourdough starter, fresh is best!”
The website also underscores Starfish’s commitment to wellness and to using locally grown ingredients wherever possible.
As for the overall experience, Di Fillhart says, “We welcome people into our restaurant as we would welcome them into our home.”
“We have a wide selection of cuisine with a charming twee décor,” she says. “People may come as visitors but always leave as family with full bellies and warm hearts.”
MOST POPULAR DISHES: American Greek salad — a bed of spring mix with onion, cucumber, tomato, pepperincinis, imported kalamata olives, feta, and house-made Greek vinaigrette
DELICOUS NEW ADDITIONS: The Starfish Café is excited to announce its new location, new décor and new kitchen.
“After being closed for 500 days during COVID and relocating from Main Street, we’re back,” Fillhart says. “(We will have the) same fresh, creative, flavorful, hand-crafted and international variety five-star food as always.” In the summer of 2021, Starfish also started an on-the-job training program for 16-18-year-olds without work experience. Students receive fair wage and have opportunity to explore the career of a chef while developing basic job skills and learning culinary and kitchen etiquette.
