We all know girls love a good bag. Believe it or not, I didn’t start wearing purses until I was in my early 20s. You read that right — for most of my life, I only carried my wallet and phone.
Today, purses have an undeniable gravitational pull on me. I see so many new designers coming out with elaborate designs that make me super excited. From handmade crochet bags perfect for the beach to functional, sophisticated bucket bags, this season’s trends keep your look fresh while suiting your lifestyle.
Purses are supposed to enhance your outfit, and that’s what I love about them. Here are just a handful of the bags that have caught my attention lately, and I bet you’re going to love them, too. Ready, set … add to cart!
• Let’s start with one of my favorite stores in the world: Target. Over the last year, Target’s accessory section has vastly improved. The selection now is cute, current, fashionable and, best of all, affordable. This Geometric Seasonal Clutch (A New Day, target.com, $25) for example, is perfect for summer. I love the woven structure of this piece; my favorite part is the wooden double handle. It’s so unique and an ideal addition to your purse collection.
• Coach is back and better than ever. I’m so excited for the new approach the brand is taking with its style, from the Pillow Tabby to my new favorite, the Swinger Bag (coach.com, $195). This bag has a long Coach history dating back to the 1980s. It’s been brought back from the archives and renewed with updated touches. I appreciate the more modern features, as well as how sleek and versatile this bag is. You can wear it with anything.
• The Eos Rattan Clutch (Cult Gaia, $198, revolve.com) screams vacation. The construction of this purse is simply amazing. I love the woven texture and the ball accents. I can picture this pairing beautifully with a gorgeous dress at a summer wedding.
• Last, but far from least, is my ultimate dream bag. Anima Iris is a black-owned luxury brand adored by the likes of Beyonce. The founder, Wilglory Tanjong, crafts “colorful leather handbags for the vibrant,” and I love the shapes she creates. The Nectar Zaza Grande ($775, animairis.com) is especially unique, from the color to the twisted handle.
