Summer is here, and whether we’re putting in long hours at work or soaking up some extra sun before school resumes, you need a melt-proof makeup routine that will help get you through these hot Mississippi days.
A 24-HOUR FOUNDATION
Esteé Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place foundation (from $43) or Revlon Colorstay makeup for oily/ combo skin ($13.99, ulta. com)
Both of these foundations are longtime cult favorites, with thousands of five-star reviews across the web. Each boasts flawless, buildable coverage and a long-lasting matte finish. Both are oil free and promise up to 24 hours of wear.
Double Wear has a wider shade range while Colorstay is fragrance free and contains SPF 15. If you’re anything like me and you break a sweat just by walking from your house to your car, you should give these a try.
THE BEST EYELINER EVER — AT LEAST, IN MY OPINION
KVD Vegan Beauty Tattoo eyeliner (from $21)
If I could only use one eyeliner for the rest of my life, it would be this one, and that’s saying a lot for a makeup junkie. This long-wearing eyeliner is everything I need it to be — super black and smudge-resistant. It’s even cruelty free, which is always a bonus. This liner is also great for those of you with hooded or oily eyelids. Once it dries completely, you don’t have any pesky transferring onto your upper lid.
BULLETPROOF BROWS
Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow pomade (from $21)
There’s nothing more frustrating than perfecting your brows, sweating a little (or a lot) and then having one smudge. Powders and pencils definitely have their place in this world, but if you’re looking for something waterproof and perfectly ideal for Mississippi’s humid climate, look no further. Using an angled brush and a very light hand, you can get perfectly sculpted brows in minutes. I have been working on the same jar of pomade for longer than I’d like to admit, so it just goes to show that a little goes a long way.
SET IT AND FORGET IT
Skindinavia bridal setting spray ($20.65)
This setting spray has been a staple in my makeup kit for years. Perfect for brides (or nurses or students or restaurant workers) with long, 10-to-12-hour days ahead of you, this finishing spray claims to be sweat-proof, cry-proof, and kiss-proof. Give yourself a few generous sprays at the end of your makeup routine to seal it all in, and your makeup will stay looking fresher for longer while resisting fading and transferring.
